So Christopher has decided he would like an allowance.
I'm not sure what he's going to do with the money, but I'm figuring we need to get started on something.
I saw an article in the gym today, that said most 7 year olds get $7-8 a week.
I would like to have him earn it, so that he learns responsiblity.
With Michael and I struggling because of "free spending" I don't want him to go through that.
I've started a spreadsheet that I'm hoping to discuss with Michael, that include things he's already doing now...he takes the trash out and is suppose to bring the trash can up on Trash days.
Since he is struggling with his reading, I'm hoping to incorporate some of that into his chore chart with the hopes of making him a better reader.
It breaks my heart that as much as Michael and I love to read, Christopher struggles. I have to continue to tell myself that he is just fine, and he will get it....then I get emails from school where all but 5 kids in his class are reading at or above a 1st grade level, and those 5 are still below the 1st grade level, but are making improvements.
While she doesn't name names, I know that Christopher is one of the 5! So while we work really hard to help him read, he'd rather memorize the story.
He does great with reading comprehension....if we read to him he can tell you all about the story...
So here's hoping the chore chart works, and his reading skills will improve!

Christopher will be just fine. He loves learning, and is always excited to learn. So he will be reading without struggling before you know it! Just continue to encourage him, and let him read to his brothers, he'll get it. Hang in there, I am always here to help!
