So I think sensability has flown out the window...

Atleast as far as I'm concerned, and it's a good thing I don't make the decisions in our house!!

Caryn and Joyce took the 3 boys to Gattitown last night for pizza for Christopher's birthday, since they both have to work this weekend when I plan to have the family party.

So since I was kid free, I talked Michael into meeting with someone at the Chevy dealer.

I really want a new car, and I feel so uninformed about what types of cars are out there, how much are new cars and what are standard options and what's considered "bells and whistles".

Our mortgage broker is very good friends with the VP and the GM at the local dealership, so he made some calls and we got to talk to a gentlemen without any high pressure sales pitch.

I had thought about giving up the life of the mini-van, but come to realize that I'm "doomed" to drive the mom-mobile.

We pulled out Xander's and Johnathan's carseats and put them in the back of an Impala, and while there was room for Christopher's carseat I was not looking forward to a trip of any length with all 3 of them that close in the back seat...so that car was quickly vetoed.

Joel, our lovely salesman, had suggested that since I had give him a payment budget (less than $300) a month that we look into a GM Certified pre-own. So he called Gary (the GM) and mentioned that we were friends of Jeff's and Gary cut him off right then and there....Gary is going to deal with us personally....

So he tells Joel to tell us about a Chevy Uplander (their mini-van). He's got one that has less than 20,000 miles, is a 2007 and he could sell for "less than $15,000". Of course I don't know how much less, but that's a $30,000 car.

So here I was just on a fact finding mission, and now I want a new car.

I'm going by the dealership today to get the invoice so I know what kind of features the car has, and he will also give me the final total.

Michael still says NO, and I know that he's right, we just refinanced the house, and are FINALLY starting to have a little breathing room, but I can want a new car....nothing saying I have to get it!

And to make matters worse, Joel says that he will get the car here, and we won't worry about a test drive, he'll put a tag on it, and I can have it for the weekend....since "no one really knows if they like a car just by driving it around the block"

So let's just put more temptation out there for me.

I already know that if I take it home for the weekend and I love it, that it will be difficult to take it back.

But I'm still getting the invoice so that we have some idea as to what type of price range we are looking at....

go for the certified... new ones depreciate too fast anyways!
