So Johnathan has a little girlfriend....
He's liked this little girl in his class for a while. We even had to spend a lot of time walking around Wal-mart to pick out the "PERFECT" birthday present for Ms. Sarah, for her 5th birthday. She had to have just the right Barbie, and then we had to find a My Little Pony Birthday card......needless to say it was a shopping trip that was done with the help of daddy since mommy couldn't do it without Xander.
Then at the birthday party the two of them were inseparatable. Wherever Sarah went there was Johnathan. If we couldn't find one we just had to look for the other. Apparently the same is true at school. They eat their lunch together, do their work together and play on the play ground together.
Whenever they are in trouble at home they both tell parents they are going to live with the other. So needless to say I'm becoming great friends with Sarah's mom!
So after diamond mining, Johnathan had his Diamond that his Tia got him (I would guess from the gift store). It's in a little box. He had to take it to school today so that he could give it to Sarah. Luckily for us Sarah's mom wouldn't let her keep it.
It is already decided that at the Q & U wedding Sarah and Johnathan will be paired up. They are so cute to watch, but we all know that we are in trouble.
They aren't going to the same elementary school, so who knows what will happen next year.....

Report Cards and Algebra Readiness
So we got report cards, and we got Straight A's!!
I'm so proud!!
However, on the same day we got report cards we also got our new math packets. Since when do they start teaching Algebra readiness and short division in 2nd grade???
Christopher is very excited, however, mommy is freaking out!!
He can do the work, that's not the problem, and he does 1 worksheet a night, and it takes him about 15-20 minutes depending on if he takes his time. I make him rewrite some of the numbers so that the are legible....but if we are doing algebra readiness in 2nd grade what will we be doing in high school????

So when you go diamond mining in January....
It's bound to be a little cold right???
The boys seemed to have had a blast!!
Apparently Johnathan was told that diamonds were in a particular hole, so he continued to dig till all you could see was the hole, and no Johnathan!
Apparently it's a lot like gold panning in which you scoop then "shake down" in water. Only problem is that the water was frozen solid!!
The boys are already talking about their return visit, so I just hope that Pop Pop and Tia are up for the return visit!

How is it that.....
We can go from having food, and a little bit of savings, and extra money to having nothing???
I know that times are tight, I really do. And we have cut back. No more dining out. I'm getting really good at making the best out of whatever we have in the cabinets. The kids are eating more cereal for breakfast cause it's cheaper and last longer than what we had be doing....but this is getting crazy.
We are not rich, nor have we ever been. We were able to make our bills, and sometimes have some left over money for fun stuff....now we don't even have money for prescriptions, or to go to the grocery store to buy milk and eggs.
Some one please tell me we aren't the only family that is struggling this badly!! And I can only hope that once our President changes that his "change" will occur quickly. It is very sad for me to look in the cabinets and see that we have nothing in their for breakfast, lunch or dinner....
Or to come home and find that the water company turned off my water bill cause I was short $69.08. Not only did they turn the water off, but they didn't give us any notice. We had finally gotten to where we weren't living that close to paycheck-to-paycheck and then Icee starts cutting hours and now we are back to not even making it to the next paycheck.
I'm tired of robbing Peter to pay Paul, poor Peter is out of money....I'm tempted to just see about what money I can get out of life insurance policies just to get us through until the taxes come through.
Now don't get me wrong, we are one of the lucky ones cause Michael does still have a job, but come on, does it have to continue to be this hard.....at any one point in my life will it be any easier???

Can I just say that I'm tired of doctors???
Between family practice doctors, for me and the boys, and the neurologist for my migraines, and now the hand surgeon for what we all thought was carpal tunnel, oh yeah and lets not forget the determatologist for all my numerous biopsies....
However, I think I might like the Hand Surgeon the best. He isn't sure what's wrong with me, so I'm thinking I'm just making it up as I go along. It's not carpal tunnel...due to the fact that it affects my entire hand versus just certain fingers. He won't due exploratory surgery just to see what nerves are being effect, since there are apparently 3 in the hand. He did however suggest that I have a cortizone shot in my wrist. I did. It was the first time in years that my hand hasn't bothered me!!
I couldn't believe it!! It did hurt for about 2 hours while the shot "did it's thing" but amazingly I was fine all night long, even bowled the best game I've bowled in a while. Slept well without having my hands bother me. Now I'm looking forward to having the shot in mty left hand!!

Can we continue the "It's not all about mommy?" post????
So Xander is doing GREAT when it comes to potty training!!
His latest comical edition to potty training, is coming to only mommy and telling me "I poopie".
Now after a few checks of this announcement (meaning about 2 weeks worth and 3 or 4 check an announcement) I have finally learned that this announcement doesn't actually mean he is poopie but that he needs to go poopie.
However, once I pretend to lose the race to the potty, get his potty seat set up and him on his potty seat. Then hold his hand while his face turns as red as a tomato he know longer needs or wants me.
He will start screaming as loud as he can "Daddy need your help!!" It is only once the deed is done that he decides it's time for daddy to help, and what part of this process does daddy get to help with?? Wiping the tush and flushing the potty and washing hands!
Can I just give up now??

It doesn't always have to be about the mommy....
Does it????
So in all my brilliance, I scheduled both Xander's 2 year old check up and Johnathan's 5 year old check up in the same day.
Back to back appointments...I guess I thought that would make my life somehow easier! Appointments were at 2:30 and 3. At 8:15, Johnathan started protesting about shots. He needed the appointment in order for me to register him for Kindergarten this upcoming week.....
He spent the morning with my sister, and I pick him up at 2ish for the appointment.
We get to the office, and Xander is sound alseep. Johnathan does great with the basics. Height, weight....he is 34 pounds and 43 inches! Time for the blood pressure and temp. NO problem. Vision check...cheats a little bit, but for the most part no problem. Biggest excitement....he got to pee in a cup!! Silly me, asked the child if he needed any help. Nope he had it all under control!! Then comes the finger stick. Again, he doesn't have any problems with this. Except the nurse forgot to warn him about the stick. I thought he was going to jump out of the chair!! Never shed the first tear! He was awesome!!
Then came Xander's turn! We did as much as we could with him sleeping. I tried to tell her he will sleep through the finger prick if once you are done you leave him alone. NO BAND-AID. Give me a kleenex or something for the bleeding but don't try to help. Well the "nurse" in her couldn't help it. She washed his finger, stuck him and then got the blood she needed in the straw. I tried to take the cotton to help so that I didn't get blood on me, but she kept messing. Once she saw how much he was bleeding (it really wasn't alot) the nurse took over. That was all it took. He was up and SCREAMING!! Wouldn't stand on the scale, wouldn't do height/weight anything.
Came time for his urine sample and we had to put the little bag on him. We he is still screaming so apparently it didn't get on tight enough.
Halfway through the appointment he decided to inform me that the exam bed was wet. Well then so was mommy.
Not only had the bag leaked, so had his diaper. All over him, the exam bed and mommy!! So here I sat with pee on my shirt sleeve at my wrist and elbow and on my pant leg at my knee.
He finished the rest of the exam in fine form and passed with flying colors!! Happy as a clam to be running around the doctors office completely and totally naked!!
Johnathan's exam went just as well. No issues to report, and he is ready for Kindergarten when school starts in the fall!
The best part....neither kid needed shots!!!
Xander won't need till he is 4, and Johnathan won't need till 2nd grade.
Michael can have that appointment. I've had enough excitement!
