Can we please go back to school????

So it started snowing about midnight on Sunday. So living in the south that automatically means no school on Monday. We ended up with about 7". So of course that now has turned into no school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Friday is a teacher work day and Monday the kids have off for MLK day. So for right now there is a full week of no school.

Lucky for us Coach H has the saving grace of if we can get out and be safe then the team members can come to practice!!! YEAH, Johnathan can get out of the house.

Michael was home for 2 days, because his boss deemed it wasn't safe for him to drive the company truck, I think that was a good plan. So Tuesday he took Johnathan to practice....today he went back to work, and I decided we HAD to get out of the house. I was careful and layed out ground rules. NO TALKING cause I had to concentrate. Some of the roads around us are on slopes and still pretty icy and therefore slippery. I have NEVER had so much peace and quiet in the car!!

We left the house about 10:30ish and got home around 6. Later than I wanted to, but I've been helping out in the gymnastics office and just totally lost tract of the time.

Lucky for us there is practice again tomorrow, so we can get out of the house and the boys can play in the snow outside of the gym.

Johnathan has a gymnastics meet this weekend, so we will be heading to Columbia Friday night.

All I can do is hope and pray that come Tuesday they do go back to school and that school has decided that the make-ups will either be during spring break or at the end of the year and not on Saturdays.

I'm ready for our snow that has now turned to ice covered snow to melt!!

This is my life.....

So it seems that I just can't seem to keep up with anything lately....

We have been keeping up with all of our activities, Johnathan has been doing well with gymnastics....he did have his first meet in Rock Hill in November. I'm very excited to say that he won a GOLD medal!!! I have never been more proud of him!!

Alexander is progressing well in gymnastics as well. They keep telling me he will be ready to try out for the team at the end of the Spring semester....lucky me...2 on team.....

Christopher is still doing AWESOME on soccer, and he now wants to try out for the travel team!!! Not sure how I will fit that in to the schedule, but we will make it happen if he makes the team.

I'm volunteering more and more at Bells Crossing. It's great to be involved in the kids schools. They enjoy seeing me in the classroom. Alexander has even gotten me involved in pre-school. Although it's becoming a little much, I'm room parent times 3. It's getting difficult only at Holiday time as I have teacher gifts to prepare for and class collection to organize. But so far I'm keeping my wits about me.

We are heading to Georgia for the first time in 11 years for Christmas. The boys are excited to go to Grandmas for Christmas, and they will get to see their cousins while we are there. It will be the first time that Alexander gets to meet his Aunt and Uncle as well as his cousins. We shall see how he does. Sometimes he gets shy around new people, but I hope he warms to them quickly.

We will get home from Georgia and then have about 2, maybe 3 weeks before the next gymnastics meet...then we start all over again. Lucky for us the Boys State meet will be in Simpsonville this year. So we only have 2 more travelling meets. I'm actually looking forward to going to Charleston, not the expense, just the time away.

So now it's time for injury....

How is it that he's played goalie for so long, and while new team parents ask if I'm worried that he's gonna get hurt I always answer NOPE...and what happens??

HE GETS HURT!!

And it's nothing MILD!!

Christopher got cleated at Saturday's soccer game, and now there is a bone chip floating around in his knee....

Nothing scarier. Now we've taught him to play tough. Guess that was a good thing, cause he played through it! He continued to play through the game and it wasn't till afterwards that I even noticed the bruising, but still. How rough do 8, 9 and 10 year olds need to be???

Now we wait to see what the specialist says, and whether or not he is done for the soccer season!

Almost a year since the last post...lets try better this go around...

Schools back in session for 1/2 a month.

Christopher is loving the 4th grade, and even more so that I'm volunteering more in school. It's the 2nd year of the challenge program for him, so we will see what this will hold for him.

Johnathan started off 1st grade with a bang! Throwing temper tantrums and HATING homework. We've resolved that issue and are now on smooth grounds! Found out just how advanced he is in reading, which really scares me!! He will be started with the 3rd reading book for 1st graders and is on a 3rd grade reading level!

Alexander has yet to start, and will start a week from today. Not a day goes by that I don't get asked "Do I have school today Mommy?" so needless to say he is ready!! We opted to put him in M, W, F instead of the 5 day program. While he will be 4 the second week of school, I'm just not ready for him to go 5 days a week quite yet!

Our schedule is already in full swing, but lucky for us NOTHING overlaps this year. While I get no breaks during the week between Soccer and Gymnastics atleast we aren't running for one to the other!

Johnathan will go to competitions this season, and I think we are going to try and go to all 6 of them.

Christopher got a new soccer coach, and I'm really looking forward to the way the team is reacting to him, and how hard he works the boys. They are going "back to the basics" as far as footwork is concerned and that is really good to see!

Michael is still working 12-14 hour days which make for long weeks for all of us but for right now it still allows me to stay home and volunteer in the boys schools!
