The Dinosaur Cake
So we had our Blue and Gold Banquet for Scouts....
Each Den was to create a cake for their centerpiece and enough to feed their den....
I was drafted/volunteered to make the cake for our Den.
Since it was suppose to be a parent/child and my child was to busy with birthday plans, soccer and out of town guests I didn't really have much help.
He'd peek in every now and then, and picked out the dinosaurs that went on the cake.
In the end we didn't win, and I'm sad but ok as well. I was told I had the "coolest" cake their. And that means a lot. The winners were people who had less professional looking cakes, and I can live with that. Can't help that I've done this for so many years that I just kinda go overboard....
Kinda cool that the entire cake was edible, with the exception of the trees and dinosaurs. Even the volcano was made of cake layers.
Now onto the next project for the week...school projects and birthday parties.....oh for joy....

All you ever wanted to know about Babe Ruth....
George Herman Ruth was born on February 6, 1895. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to German-American parents. His mother died of tuberculosis. When he was 7 his father sent him to live in an orphanage run by Catholic missionaries. He was a part of St. Mary’s band and drama club.
In 1911 Ruth was pitching for St. Mary’s school when Jack Dunn, owner and manager of the minor league team Baltimore Orioles, saw him. He offered Ruth a pitching contract. Since Ruth was only 19 Jack Dunn had to be his Guardian as well. Fellow teammates called Ruth “Jack’s newest Babe”. The nickname stuck and stayed with him through out his career. On July 9, 1914 Dunn traded Babe Ruth to the Boston Red Sox.
In 1916 Babe Ruth had his best season as a pitcher. He had 23 wins and 12 losses with a league-leading 1.75 earned run average. In his final years at Boston he spent less time pitching and more time playing positions in the outfield giving him more chances to bat.
Babe Ruth played for the New York Yankees for 15 years. He played in over 2,000 games. Only 5 of those games were as a pitcher. When he pitched he had a perfect 5-0 record. In 1920, his first year with the Yankees, Ruth hit 54 homeruns. His .847 slugging average was a Major League record until 2001, when broken by Barry Bonds. Aside from the Yankees, only the Philadelphia Phillies hit more home runs as a team than Ruth hit by himself. On July 18, 1921, Babe Ruth hit career home run #139, breaking Roger Connor’s record of 138 in just the eighth year of his career. His deepest homerun hit occurred on July 18, 1921 at Detroit’s Navin Field, when he hit one to straightaway center, over the wall of the then-single-deck bleachers, and to the intersection, some 575 feet from home plate.
Yankee’s Stadium is located in The Bronx, New York, and has been home to the New York Yankees since 1923. The first game was held on April 18, 1923 with the Yankees beating the Boston Red Sox 4-1. The stadium was quickly nicknamed “The House that Ruth Built” because of the Yankee’s star Babe Ruth. He was able to bring large crowds to the games and help them leave Polo Grounds. Ruth also hit the first home run at the Stadium; a 3 run shot that helped him beat his former team.
When Babe Ruth retired in 1936 he had set many records that still stand to this day.
1. 1st on all-time slugging % with 0.690
2. 1st on all time on base plus slugging % with 1.164
3. 2nd on all-time Runs batted in list with 2,217
4. 2nd on all-time on-base % list with 3,474
5. 3rd on all-time bases on balls list with 2,062
6. 3rd on all-time homerun list with 714
7. 4th on all-time runs list with 2,174
8. 6th on all-time total bases list with 5,793
9. 10th on all-time batting average list with .342
On August 16, 1948 Babe Ruth died from pneumonia, caused by cancer. He is most known as one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the sport.
Christopher's latest school project was a Biography, and this was his typed report...he did pretty good huh???

The Good, The Bad, The Silly and The Weird....
The Good Report cards came out. Christopher got Straight A's. I was so proud of him!! He did such a great job!! Worked really hard pulling up his grades!! He got a few awards for the 2nd term. Perfect attendance (again), "BUG" award (Bringing UP Grades) for Language Arts, Reading and Science. Terriffic Kid, meeting his AR reading Goal and something else....
Johnathan has excelled in gymnastics and should be ready to move up to the next level by the time his birthday rolls around. We are now dealing with the constant question of when does he start Kindergarten!! He is SOOOO ready for school to start. He doesn't understand that just because he has turned 5 that he has to wait for preschool to end and then for a summer to pass. But we will get there.
The Bad I've given up on potty training Alexander. He seems to only tell me when he has to potty. It's become very frustrating. So I've just completely given up. When he can start telling Caryn and Michael than we will pick back up with that again. Hopefully it won't take long, since he really has the concept down, and does great when he's with me.....just don't know how to make him tell everyone else....
The Silly Friday we were driving to pick up Michael after he dropped of his truck for it's normal service. Johnathan asked where we were going. I said to get daddy. Xander's response was... "Daddy all gone. Bye Bye Daddy. Daddy in sky. Daddy Superman" and he repeated it the entire way to the Goodyear. It was the funniest thing he's said in a while. He was pretty determined that daddy all gone!
The Weird I've been having nightmares for the past few days that I'm pregnant. I finally broke down and told Michael about my dreams....mainly cause I'm so exhausted during the day I don't know what to do with myself. He actually took it very well. He wasn't as freaked out as I am. So I guess we wait and see. It's in God's hands and I know even with the tubal if he wanted us to have another child he would make it happen. If I've got things figured out right, and if indeed I am pregnant it would be around Halloween. So we shall see....if not than someone I know is going to have a baby and they just don't know it yet!!
Other news.......
Christopher raced in his 1st pinewood derby race with Cub Scouts. Didn't come in 1st, but didn't come in last either. So it was a good race. I only got to see parts of it because I was at a soccer meeting!! Soccer starts back up next week, so we are getting back into the full swing of being busy.
Grandma and Grandpa will be here for Christopher's birthday in a few weeks and while they are here the scouts will have a Blue and Gold ceremony. Not sure what that entails but we are all planning on attending.
Nana and PopPop's trip to Austrailia is quickly approaching, and we are going to really miss them!! But know they are going to have a great time!
Almost time for our den meeting, so time to go....

Johnathan, Sarah and the Diamond....
So Johnathan has a little girlfriend....
He's liked this little girl in his class for a while. We even had to spend a lot of time walking around Wal-mart to pick out the "PERFECT" birthday present for Ms. Sarah, for her 5th birthday. She had to have just the right Barbie, and then we had to find a My Little Pony Birthday card......needless to say it was a shopping trip that was done with the help of daddy since mommy couldn't do it without Xander.
Then at the birthday party the two of them were inseparatable. Wherever Sarah went there was Johnathan. If we couldn't find one we just had to look for the other. Apparently the same is true at school. They eat their lunch together, do their work together and play on the play ground together.
Whenever they are in trouble at home they both tell parents they are going to live with the other. So needless to say I'm becoming great friends with Sarah's mom!
So after diamond mining, Johnathan had his Diamond that his Tia got him (I would guess from the gift store). It's in a little box. He had to take it to school today so that he could give it to Sarah. Luckily for us Sarah's mom wouldn't let her keep it.
It is already decided that at the Q & U wedding Sarah and Johnathan will be paired up. They are so cute to watch, but we all know that we are in trouble.
They aren't going to the same elementary school, so who knows what will happen next year.....
